ACCOMMODATION
There are plenty of options in and around Ghent to book a nice hotel, B&B or hostel. There’s even a camping site called Urban Gardens (Camping Blaarmeersen), located just 4 kilometers from the venue. When you step out of the venue, you simply cross the street towards Verlorenkost. If you first cross the bridge and then turn left, a nice walk or 15-minute bicycle ride along the water leads you to the Blaarmeersen.
Another option, which we definitely recommend, is launching a small appeal on our Facebook group called dunk!friends. You might get offered a bed and/or meet new people before the festival even started! How cool is that?
ACCESSIBILITY
By bus
If you're coming by bus chances are you'll be dropped off near either Gent-Sint-Pieters or Gent-Dampoort train stations. Both stations are not too far from the venue and pretty close to the centre of Gent. Flixbus stops just outside Gent-Dampoort. To reach the venue from there, leave the station behind you and walk straight towards Gent's city centre crossing the canal and heading down Lange Boomgaardstraat. Head south until you can cross the canal again and turn right on Lammerstraat to find the venue in front of you.
By train
Preferred transportation method is by train. Ghent has a railway station connecting cities like Antwerp and Brussels. Please note that a mouth mask is still obligatory on public transport. From Gent-Sint-Pieters railway station, you can simply take tramline 1 and hop off at ‘Verloren Kost’ to walk a few minutes through the Bagattenstraat straight into the venue.
By car
By car Ghent can be reached by the E40 (from East or West) or E17 (from North or South). Pay attention to the low-emission zone (LEZ) signs upon entering the city center (the area within the ring road). There are several possibilities if your vehicle is not automatically allowed to enter the low-emission zone. Some vehicles have to be registered (only once, free of charge) while other vehicles require you to buy a paid permit or LEZ day pass.
Certain vehicles can be registered free of charge (do this no later than 24 hours after entering the low-emission zone)
For certain vehicles you can buy a temporary permit (do this no later than on the day of entering the LEZ before midnight)
Do you need to purchase a LEZ day pass? (do this no later than on the day of entering the LEZ before midnight)
De Vooruit is located right near Parking Zuid and close to Parking St. Peter’s Square. You can find all parking options here.
By plane
If you're coming by plane from Brussels Zaventem, take the train to Gent-Sint-Pieters directly from the airport then follow the instructions above. If you're landing at Charleroi Airport, there's two ways to get to Gent, by train or bus. Flibco operates shuttle buses to and from Gent-Sint-Pieters. If you prefer to take the train you'll have to change in Brussels (from Charleroi Centraal) and board a train to Gent-Sint-Pieters. If you're arriving from Schiphol Airport, there's Flixbus available or a train to Antwerp and then Gent-Dampoort.
FOOD & DRINKS
Drinks can be purchased both with cash and card. The Vooruit Café, located in and part of the festival venue, offers delicious food. If you’re into something different, there are plenty of options nearby: pasta, pizza, ramen, burgers, sandwiches, Mexican food, French fries, Lebanese food, …
WHAT ELSE?
If you've recovered after being blown away by several acts the day before, there are lots of cool places to visit in Ghent in the morning. Ghent is known for its ‘chill’ vibe and historical city centre including a medieval castle.
The city offers great museums and cool record shops as well (the longest running independent record store in Belgium is located right next to the entrance!). Vinylla and Vinylkitchen are also close to the venue. Other great record shops in the city center: Consouling Store or ZoeZoe Records.
