Black Narcissus (be)

A magical journey between the cloud forests of Princess Mononoke.

Belgian heavy duo Black Narcissus are so heavy you’ll be surprised to know it’s only two people playing on stage! But fear not, for Jesse and Thomas navigate the ample space between post- rock and metal with not only a penchant for gigantic riffs and supermassive breakdowns, but also display a refined taste for blissful catharsis and exquisite romanticism. Self-described as “a 2-piece rhythm section providing intense and atmospheric tunes of monumental proportion”, Black Narcissus walk the fine line between post-rock and post-metal with the innate grace of the most stately aerialist, weaving elegant patterns and performing hypnotising loops.

Their latest album, the sprawling “There Lingers One Who’s Long Forgotten” has been compared to “a magical journey between the cloud forests of Princess Mononoke” and while we cannot fully vouch for the accuracy of that statement, we can certainly echo these feelings for the album truly possesses a magical nature. There’s so much to get lost to on this album. From the blissful to the more aggressive, these ethereal sonicscapes posses an immense evocative nature, with each song organically flowing into the next in an expertly blended mix of thrilling climaxes and blissful catharsis.
